Hey there I’m new to the forum but here’s my question so I just picked up my new to me 04 f350 crew cab long bed dually v10 and when I go to take off I get the ignoring dinging when I take off like the seat belt chime but it stays on for lil while then goes off till I come to a complete stop then back on again. I’ve tried hooking up the drivers seat belt to c if that changes and nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciate
No I don’t that was y I thought might b that but wasn’t I even have gone and made sure every door is shut and still does same thing I was just gonna pull the relay but couldn’t figure out which one
Is the dome light staying on? Likely not doors if it's not.
Does your seat belt light and airbag light prove out at KOEO?
Also it may ding if it thinks there's weight in the passenger seat. You could try buckling that one....but I'd still expect a flashing seat belt light if this were the cause
Also does this model year ding if it thinks the parking brake is set? This could explain the symptoms clearing at a full stop. Does your BRAKE light prove out?
I know my brake light is on and the abs light comes on after a couple mins but like I said after a few miles the dinging goes away till I stop and soon as I take off it comes back again 🤷♂️
There is a little metal pad with a wire in the key switch that lets you know you left your keys in, if it is bent or damaged it will do that all the time or it can get intermittent. You take the column shroud off and you'll see it at like 6'oclock below the key tumbler. Just pull it out of the column, or turn the key slightly forward and push the little button up below the tumbler and the key tumbler will come out. You might have to rotate it forward, push the little metal button up and then turn it back to get the tumbler to come out, but then the metal tab part will slide out of the column. You can try and fix it up and put it back or just tape it and hide it in the shroud. It just wont ding to say you left your keys in the ignition.

I’ll check and make sure if that one works like it should by god it sounds just like it though

I’ll look and see but if I remember correctly it don’t start till I’m driving for lil bit and then goes away but I’ll look this evening if I make it home from the semi
What you’re describing sounds like the warning chime for the air bag module when it can’t control the air bag indicator on the cluster.

Are you certain the air bag light is functional? Turn the key on, engine off, while observing the lower right corner of the cluster - the air bag light should turn on for a couple of seconds and then turn off. This is a bulb test controlled by the cluster.
If you see the indicator at key on, but it’s not on when the chime is active, the air bag module may not be able to command the indicator on, and its backup protocol is to use the chime.

The yellow ABS indicator shouldn’t cause the chime.
The red brake light indicator can cause the chime if it’s on because the parking brake is set or there’s a problem with the parking brake switch circuit that’s causing the cluster to “think” the brake is set.
The parking brake switch is normally open - try disconnecting the switch and see if the brake light/chime goes away. If so, the switch is likely shorted closed. If not, the wiring could be shorted to ground or there’s another cause for the light/chime.
If you don’t have a capable scan tool, i recommend having a shop do a full system scan. They can check the PCM, ABS, cluster, air bags, and all other modules for codes that may be causing the chime.
I missed that part, yeah if the truck thinks the parking brake is set it'll chime, then going down the road it jiggles the pedal and the switch on and off. That switch is down under the dash on the back of the parking brake assembly, You'll have to get down and under the dash and look up for it high up on the left kickpanel area. Cheap way to check it, wire or ty wrap the pedal up so it tries to push hard on the switch to keep that light off and the chime from going off. Could be the spring for the ebrake is a little weak and it just kind of hangs down just a bit, enough to fool it into thinking the brake is set.
Well I do know when the chiming stops the light still stays on. So the yellow abs light don’t come on immediately it comes on maybe 1/4 mile after I have taken off from start up and then the brake pedal hardens up when abs comes on and after few mins the chime goes away until I come to stop. But I’ll definitely check that out
