GM DOD- 8/6/4 question?
Hi,
I've got an opportunity to get into a 14 Silverado at a great price. I'm hearing enough bad news about the DOD/cylinder drop feature that I thought I should research it.
What I've found so far is that it causes engine failure and it should be bypassed.
What I can't find is what specifically fails in these motors? Are they eating cams? pistons cooling and rattling,? bottom end starving? rockers jumping out?
Anyone here have the scoop on this?

when they work, they work great.
when they do not work, they fail catastrophically.
personally i have seen way to many failures to ever have anything to do with that system.
