Trans fluid
My 22 F-150 5.0 with 10 spd trans calls for Mercon ULV fluid. My wife's 22 5.0 Mustang with 10 spd calls for Mercon LV. I realize they are probably not the exact same trans, but why have the complexity of so many different fluids? Or, is the F-150 requirement an attempt to increase fuel mileage in the truck fleet? Regardless, I think its silly. I'll check with my Ford tech friend and see what they're actually putting in them. Thoughts ?

It's your truck. You can run any fluid in it that you like.
Just be willing to accept that if you don't run the fluid that Ford requires there is no warranty, and you may be causing the trans to fail. Unless you've run the testing to know what fluid is needed you just don't know.
