Repurposing the air pump.
The air pump on a 96 f150xl 4.9 300i6, can it be repurposed as a pump to fill a air tank. Reason why I ask is I can't find any specs on volume or presure produced when running.

Thanks for the quick reply. Good to know. What about the AC. I've got vent windows. I'll never use the AC. I read some can push up to 150 psi. Just not sure about the one in the mentioned truck. I'm sure it's original to the truck.

Do you use the the defroster to help clear ice or condensation when the windshield fogs up? The compressor also runs in that position to help dry the air.

Agree. It's a low pressure pump.
Air conditioners are important. Keep it if it still works.
Companies make custom York air compressors mounts for your engine. A York compressor has its own oil supply and it's belt driven off the crankshaft.
