2005 v10 engine

Howdy folks, long time ford truck owner first time member. I did something really stupid and bought me an 05 350 duelly with cam and follower issues. Truck is in good shape with the exception of the right head. Cam bearings are toast. Only 140k on the truck so I thought it would be worth fixing the existing engine or replace it. My questions are 1-what year engines will fit with little or no modifications?
And 2-how deep pockets do I need to repair what is there and what would be the recommended course of action if I was to fix it? I’m fairly handy but this might be a bit much for me.

I'd at least pull the oil pan and see what other junk has been circulating through the motor.

It'll ultimately cost more than you think and be more work than you think and at the end of the day you're stuck with the wheezing 3V V10 which is a horrible truck motor (I ran an '08 all over Colorado until it dropped a valve).

If you want to go minimum investment and flip it as a running truck, maybe. If *I* wanted it for myself, no way. I'd dump it off/part it out and look for a slow-but-reliable 2V or a 2011+ 6.2

If you want it for yourself you should do full timing set (you'll likely find pieces of guide in the pan anyway), HV oil pump and all roller followers both heads.

Or, there's always a Cummins swap!!!!

I like reading your posts and you seem fairly knowledgeable. But get off the crap about the 3v V10. Despite your ignorance it was a GREAT truck motor and the 6.2 never came close to equaling its torque numbers at anywhere at any rpm range.

Maybe you had a lemon so quit spreading internet lies, please. You are doing a disfavor to this site and anyone who reads it.
