Rear hatch help
I just picked up an 04 X 6.0. I’m making this my river whip and slowly upgrading things.
I’ve noticed a leak on the rear hatch leaking inside under the panel. I believe the weatherstripping has been worn out (not surprising being almost 20 years old).
I want to replace the weatherstripping and obviously it is discontinued. My question is is there any other model that had similar weatherstripping that would work?
any ideas or suggestions would be wonderful!
there is a Vent there, or not.
My truck does not have a vent grill in the hole, it was wide open to the elements.
every time it rained, the entire back of the truck, and the inside of the rear AC compartment was soaking wet...
in lieu of the Vent, I use silver Duct Tape to seal up the hole.
that stopped the rain water from getting in the truck.
a forum member saw my problem, and had a spare vent, he graciously dug it out of his spare parts pile and mailed it to me. I gave him some chattel and all are happy
my daughter told me, " if it had been a snake, it would have bitten her "

she came home late from work, 2 hours after sundown, and was not looking for any packages, I sent her a Text msg to go look for it, and she found it.
Many thanks.
Do you think that Ford used similar weatherstripping on the Lincoln or another SUV? The weatherstripping has a metal core for the channel that clips on to the pinch welds. Does anyone know if there is another similar style that I can use since this specific part doesn't exist anymore?
