Freeze plug removal

What do you use to remove a freeze plug on a 99 Explorer 4.0 OHC? It is the passenger front. I think I can get to it from underneath.

Also, is there anything special you use to flush the coolant system? I recall using some sort of a connector that I spliced into one of the hoses on my older cars.

Been trying to post a response, but it wouldnt let me?? I've got a Prestone flush & fill on mine. Just cut a heater hose add the T hook a garden hose to the T and flush away. Very handy. If this was mine I'd let a good independant shop change the freeze plug. Those things can be a real PITA to get out.
