Heater hose

I have a 64 F100 with a 223 installing a new manifold that needs coolant ran through it just wondering if it’s better to T into the heater hoses or run in series with the heater core

Welcome to FTE, my 1964:

It's been years since my first Slick ( '63 F100, 223-6cyl, T-18 4spd), nevertheless, I don't recall coolant running though the manifold. I seem to recall it had a coolant plate under the 1-barrel carb to warm the intake charge. It was about 3/4" thick. It was feed via a short hose from the waterpump to the plate then it exited the plate to travel through the heater core, then return back to the engine. I suspect someone here who currently is running a 223 will chime in soon to correct me if I am mistaken........ Enjoy your Slick!

Thanks for getting back to me actually installing a Cliffords manifold and headers and it Hass to have water running through the intake. Just trying to make sure a do that plumbing correctly so I don’t end up with any issues. Also thinking about installing some kind of valve on my heater core so I can turn that water flow off during the summer, don’t need any extra heat in the cab

On my '62 with a carb to manifold heater block. The hose ran from the thermostat housing to the cab heater. Out the cab heater to the heater block. Then it went to the water pump.

You can install a valve that screws into the thermostat housing. Connect the hose that leads to the cab heater to the valve. Most auto parts stores should have the valve. I'll try to post a picture latter.

Tom,
Thanks for clarifying the routing of the heater hoses/carb heater block.

The valve was a Murray 84791.

I do not have the carb heater connected due to one hose end being too short to hold a hose. Block is still under carb. The return from the carb heater either went to the cab heater connector as shown in the 3rd picture or it went to a fitting where the pipe plug is that is shown in picture 1. I don't remember which.

And yes, that is a 2 piece hose I had to make up for my 262ci to get around the fuel pump.

Hope this helps to do your manifold.
Tom
