Just traded a 2021 F150 powerboost for a new 23 F250. I had all kinds of issues with OTA updates on the 150, finally got them working after a ton of technical expertise I found online. Checking on the 250s SYNC system, I am not showing any area that I can enable software updates. No menu selection to set timed or recurring updates, nada. Anyone else have a similar situation? I do have a mongoose pass through for Fords system, I guess if I don't see anything after a month or so, I'll use FDRS and the mongoose.

I'm pretty sure my '22 F-450 with sync 4 has an "enable auto updates" option. I don't have a subscription for the on-board modem, so I think my truck has to be on and connected to WiFi before updates work. I'll go look at the menu later today.

 

My 2019 has the updates in the general tab under the Sync selection. No clue on the newer ones.

 

Here is how it is on my truck. Go to settings, system updates and you should see an auto update option. Connect to WiFi and it should work.

 

Thanks for the replies. Thats just it, there is no option/icon/setting to get to system updates. Wonder if they changed something on the 2023s and its always just on. These are both available pages on my SYNC.

 

It's not like the previous versions or years with Sync 4 had any control over the updates either. Setting them, reporting "not up to date" etc. has had no effect on my updates - or lack thereof. I've been waiting for months to get the next version (beyond 354) as my friend with a '22 already got his. No amount of reporting mine as not up to date has helped get any update.

So I don't think you are missing much.

What version of Sync4 is your truck? (assuming it has an option to check that)

 

I can check it, I'm sure it's the latest. Does everything I want it to, but there are a few minor glitches which is why I was hoping i could set updates when fixes are sent off.

 

The 2023 manual does have a section called vehicle software updates, would those updates not include Sync system updates? Or is that section, like some others in the manual, not correct.

 

I will be posting a video soon but I have had a lot of connectivity issues with my 23 Lariat F350 with Apple carplay. My 21 F150, nor my 21 Raptor have had such issues...I will be taking into the dealer this week.

 

My 2023 Platnium Power boost did at first as well. Turn on the wifi and link it to your home wifi. My OTA updates have been good as well.

Have you manually enabled OTAs? As noted, i can not find anywhere to enable them, or if they are just always on without user interaction.

 

I believe it is through the Ford app, on your phone. That's also how my notifications of updates after they happen are shown.
