With my NGS I can access the VSM and once I select the excursion and year it gives me options to enable features within the VSM. What I don't see is an option to enable the door keypad. I am trying to see if there is a way to do this without having to do some sort of as-built update.
OK, so I went to the junk yard and picked up another working VSM from a 2005 F250 extra cab. I plugged it into my F250 and not everything worked as it should. I believe this happened because it was from a extra cab and not a crew cab. So I was thinking I will have to either wait and find a VSM from a crew cab at the junk yard or take it to Ford.
Then I had a thought, I just put the one from the F250 into the Excursion....idea. I used my NGS to backup the VSM on the excursion and restore it to the VSM I just got at the picknpull and guess what that worked. So now I am thinking I can use the as-built data to restore to the Excursion VSM but I don't know how to get the file I downloaded onto the NGS.
I did not figure out how to upload my “as built” data to the VSM. I ended up finding another VSM from the pick-n-pull off a 2003 excursion. When I connected it to my EX, everything worked and it was back to normal. I didn’t swap it out with the one in the EX, I ended up backing up the one from the P-n-P and restoring it to the one already mounted into my EX (it was the old F250 VSM).
As mentioned all is good now.
on a side note….I backed up the VSM from my friends 2005 excursion and restored it to my 2002. The results were, many things did not work like they should.
