I have a broken door hinge check spring. I ordered a new one but it is huge compared to the old. Its diameter is about an inch where the old is 9/16. The new is about 3/4” longer. Wire diameter is twice as thick. I put it on but it feels mighty hard to move and my fear is the extra stress on the door.
i just local salvage yard and of course nothing to get.
Has anyone used one similar to the new i described?
Suggestions on where to get one that is exact to the old?
sorry forgot to state it’s for a 72 f100
Where did you buy the spring from? Maybe you can contact NPD or Dennis Carpenter to see if they have access to a parts supplier for the spring. The whole latch assembly is on the pricey side, but maybe a spring would be reasonable.
