I am searching for help. I daily drive a 1992 F150 and it us HOT in Louisiana, and my A/C is having some problems. I feel that it could be the compressor but I'd like a second opinion. When i turn the ac on, it will run for 15 ish pinutes and stop blowing cold. This is because the relays get hot and the fuse blows. Now if i put in a new relay and new fuse it will again run for 15 minutes and then blow the fuse and relay. When the fuses blow its just the compressor that will stop running it still blows fine. Any suggestions?
Possibly high head pressure. Either an obstruction or lack of air flow through condenser. Check the pressure. Or possibly a nicked wire, causing a bit of a short.
The clutch gap may be incorrect causing the field coil to overheat and that added resistance blows the fuse.
I would replace the compressor assembly, if it were my truck (before it blows and sends metal chards into my system)
That said, clutch parts used to be cheap and I even have a few left over from my Ford days
You find the numbers for your field coil, clutch hub and pulley / bearing
And I might send them to you if you want and I have them
