My door locks work with my key fob but not the switch in the truck. Checked fuses, they are good. Know the actuator is good cause they lock with the key fob. My door ajar light stays on but that wouldn't stop it from locking would it?
I’ve sprayed all the door ajar actuators in my truck and the light still won’t go off. So I figured I have a bad actuator, just have to narrow it down and change it out.
On something of mine, I had the issue: Light on, but door was shut. Was just a gummed switch not telling the light to go out, but door was shut. Switch was sprayed with electrical cleaner lube. I found them looking in the latch opening of the door, no parts removed ... just spray well, work it a few times in my case.
But never the lock issue: Not locking with switch inside ... could be just a dirty set of contacts, I've taken mine in my '07 pickup apart a couple times to clean the window switch contacts. I have a '01 Mercury, '95 T-bird, '08 Mustang, and had a '92 T-bird, never had the issue.

Looks like might. From a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis book ... I'm sure it was same in 2002.
I'm thinking that the most likely cause is a problem with the door lock switch. So, I would first test it by prying up the switch panel on the driver's door, examine the switch connector for good contact, then test it for continuity.
