Hi,
my 2015 powerstroke has about 55,000 miles on it, the check fluid additive light comes on, is this a mileage or date alert or does it really check it? I have around 500 miles till the next oil change, can I wait to have it checked then?
The "Check coolant additive" is a mileage based reminder I believe. It can wait a bit until you check, and if you want to check it yourself you will need to order a test kit from Accu-Ckeck which is/was about $60 for 10 tests but might be a bit more these days. Depending on the results of the test either the coolant is fine or you need to add a bottle of coolant additive to refresh the coolant. The second time it fails the test you have to change the coolant.
