I was having some weird starts, so I recently went through and replaced some sensors. I did the IPR, ICP, CPS to the updated one, and the EOT to the updated pigtail as well.
Since I have dont this, I noticed an increase in my EOT numbers. I used to see like 180-190 regular driving, and like 200-205 ish running the highway at 70 mph. Now, I run above 200 and am seeing 207-212 at 70 mph.
Now maybe my sensor was just that bad but I dont think that makes sense. Anyone know why I would be running this hotter due to new sensors?
I would not stress. I drive and tow 10K or less with a 203°F stat. But hey, that is me.
are you not supposed to tow with the warmer T-stat? I was thinking to upgrade mine to the warmer one. But I’m going to tow 4-14k 3x a week or more I’m guessing (new dump trailer used for business)
How do i know if I have a 195* or a 203*. It could be that I just installed a 203* and so it runs hotter. Which I am assuming isnt a bad thing..
I got mine from RiffRaff with the updated pigtails as well.
I'll say I run a 180 so my eot doesn't get in that 210 range. My injectors really idle wonky when it is really hot and my coolant temp would gradually climb over long periods towing. Personally I would not want hotter Temps and try to tow heavy.
There is nothing wrong with those temperatures for the oil. You should strive to consistently be above 200 for at least an hour to burn the junk out of the oil on a regular basses.
Your favorite search engine may help, research oil operating temperatures.
I usually run about 210 oil temp in Texas summer conditions at 70 mph unloaded on road trips. If your gauges and sensors are correct you ARE NOT having any issues.
