Installed an ARB front bumper today. Still have a few things like the lights and finishing the winch hookup to do. But I have a question - does anyone know if that low hanging Prius catcher bar is a necessary piece of structural equipment? Or can it be removed? I cut the ends off, but I'd love to ditch it entirely.
After further research, it appears that the "blocker beam" is not structural and can be removed. It's a crapshoot of opinions on whether or not it's a good idea due to insurance liability issues, etc.

I am going to look real close at mine again.
if nothing is welded to it, it is going bye bye, hate the look of that thing.
my front grill is a Ranch Hand with a big honking Winch on it, a Prius is not going to survive that anyway
Insurance adjusters are NOT going to inspect to see if that bar is there or not, I used to run Car Tires on my Honda Goldwing motorcycle, and I specifically asked my agent does it matter if the tire is labeled "motorcycle" or not?
his reply was " it has a Tire on it, right? " and that was it.
the real concern will be, if that Prius was in your Lane, or if you were in "their lane".
