Hello! I was trying to redo my front drum brakes on my 1971 F100 XLT. I have had all kinds of problems trying to gather all the parts together. I.e.; one part shop would have the brake hardware, another shop would have the pads, another shop would have one cylinder, and then send me to a different shop to get the other wheel cylinder. Anyway, after rounding them all up, I discovered that the hardware kit that O’Reilly automotive gave me and swore was specific to my truck, doesn’t fit. The brake shoe keeper pins and springs are wrong. The springs are at least half an inch longer Than what I took off of there and the pin is about half an inch short so there would be absolutely no way you could push the clip on and turn it over the retainer pin and have it work.
Anyone know a good aftermarket hardware kit that would be complete with the adjusters screw and adjustment plate, that would also have the right length of pins and springs for a 3 inch brake shoe?
thanks

1953/67 F100's have 11" x 2" front drum brakes, 11 1 3/4" rear drum brakes.
1968/72 F100 2WD's have 11" x 3" front drum brakes, 11" x 2 1/4" rear drum brakes.
Beginning in 1973, F100 2WD's have front disc brakes.
1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog sez:
Brake primary & secondary retracting springs, brake adjusting screw springs, hold down primary and secondary springs are the same 11 x 2 & 11 x 3.
That’s awesome! You’ve always had the best information! I appreciate you! That would make sense, because the brake hardware kit they gave me would fit the rear brakes with them being 2 1/4 inch width. Also the hardware kit I had had the extra springs for the parking brake link for the rear brakes. I’m not sure if they make two separate rebuild kits, one for the front and a different one for the back or if we just make do with what we can piece together out of the ones that seem to be built for the back brakes.
