I pulled a bone head move and destroyed my tailgate on my 2020 today. Searching auto recyclers it appears that there was a change in the tailgate from 2019 to 2020. Can someone please confirm this to be true or not. The tailgates appear the same from 2017 onward but the recyclers break it at 2020.
Come on, spill the beans and at least give us the story.
Yeah thats BS.
I unhooked a gooseneck and drove out from under it with the tailgate closed on my 1993 F350 and had to open the tailgate afterwards with a sledgehammer which is why it is sans-tailgate today
I tailgate tapped my 2017 SD with a gooseneck and creased the top of the gate.
On my 2008 Chevy I backed into a travel trailer jack pole with the tailgate down.
You can't beat ME for destroying tailgates, so Ive shown you MY stories, lets hear THIS STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aw come on....lots of us have done it. No shame. Dropped my 5th wheel on the bed of my 2011. That hurt. On my 2020 I went on the camping trip from HELL and had to pull my camper over a hill and it bottomed out on my truck not once but twice. I even manged to take out my rear window on the same trip when the truck grabbed in the gravel, jackknifed, and got my back window. Tore up the underbunk of the 5th wheel. Just got it back last Monday as a matter of a fact. I have now told you how stupid showed up in my trips. COME ON!
Alright, Alright I'll spill the embarrASSing beans. Pulled fifthwheels for almost 20 years and for the first time I drove the truck ahead to realign mid hitchup with the tailgate closed. I had closed the tailgate mid-hitchup to open the trailer storage compartment to turn the battery switches on which I had forgot to do before starting my hitchup. Almost tore the step right out of the tailgate. Needless to say it's mangled. Worst part is it's actually my wife's baby and she no like it when it's not lookin bad-***. Al right beat me up for being stupid!!

Well, I haven't damaged a tailgate yet, but i did turn to sharp 15 minutes after buying my brand new toyhauler and it made contact with the cab and blew out the rear window on my F-350.
The bad part is I bought the B&W Companion Slider 5th wheel to keep that from happening since my truck at the time was a short bed. The problem was nobody showed me how to use it. And since I didn't want to make an insurance claim, that was a $2400 lesson on slider hitch's.
