Hello. I had a leaking inner seal on my dana 50 front diff on my 1990 F250, so I decided to take everything apart and do new seals, bearings, etc. Now, the problem is, I can't get the third member back into the housing. All I have is a floor jack, and I was doing it by myself on jack stands.
Does anyone have some tips for getting this thing back in? I've got a friend coming to help me today. It seems that if I could just have someone operate the jack to get it wedged up in there, then we could remove the jack and the two of us could muscle it around to get it to set.
That is what I do, use a couple of studs

The silicone is the tricky part
Sorry if I'm too late to help you, but the biggest problem I had getting the diff out and back in was fitting it through the maze of parts. I found that if I supported the truck with jack stands under its frame and let the axles droop as much as possible it gave me more room to get the diff out and back in.

Good call. That's how mine was supported too. When I removed this third at the junkyard I couldn't do that, made it really hard to fish out of there.
