Fmx linkage

Fmx transmission, 351w engine inside a 1970 f250, steering wheel shifter

-used to have the wrong engine mounts and perches. I have swapped them out for correct ones but now everything is sitting back a few inches from where it used to be and transmission is a little more tucked in.

-the arm is about 4-6 inches from reaching that bottom lever where it used to be connected

-how do I fix this linkage? Are there adapters or certain parts that will work?

-I don’t know much about how these arms work or the levers on this transmission. The bottom lever used to be connected to that arm.

- what are the two levers on the transmission?

will try to read up and educate myself over the next few days.. just currently worn out from getting the engine back in the truck the proper way.

Engine/transmission have been swapped from a car. Only Ford trucks to use an FMX were 1973/77 F350's with 300 I-6.

The 351W was first installed in 1969 Passenger Cars, was not installed in F150/350 & Bronco until 1981.

-that’s right… what should I do about this linkage? Does anyone have a 351w with Fmx that can shed some light or pictures of what there’s looks like?

- also any good videos or websites to read up or learn about what’s what on a transmission.. specifically these levers sticking out of it.

The FMX was used 68-79 in many different Fomoco cars. Visit junkyards, old repair shops, or prowl Craigslist/Facebook/Ebay for the shift linkages. Try Youtube for videos. Visit Ford/Mustang forums and Ford/Mustang parts houses. Use Google Images etc for drawings. Visit your local library for manuals, or used book stores to find photos or drawings of them.. One must be a detective in cases like this.
FMX's were also used in Dent F-100/350's according to this list:

thanks! Will do!

- I started reading up online especially on this forum… seems like a C6 linkage from column shifter to transmission would work for this 351w Fmx in my 1970 f250 setup… anyone have this? Gonna try the junkyards this weekend

Does anyone know if something like this would work? Kinda don’t want to spend $50 on it but need a backup plan if I can’t find anything at the
junkyard this weekend.
