WoW That is a hacked up mess under there.

Have a look at post 9 in this thread it will help show the wiring for your courtesy lamp light switches and the cargo light.

it is very possible the old dome light was just shorted out causing the fuse to blow.
is the new one hooked up and not blowing the fuse?

No, I somehow have lost one of the screws while trying to install it over this past weekend, SOOO, I have left it off until I can buy another one of the shorter screws to make sure I don't wind up with a short due to not having all 3 screws in place.

OK. This is difficult to accept, but electrical is only as hard as you make it. Bake a cake? Ingredients, measurements, assembly, containers, tools, temperature... yada-yada-yada... Cake.

If you break things down to their components & build the parts, sections, etc. you make a system work.

This gen truck fortunately is not "integrated" like a current vehicles are. The systems are "free standing" for the most part & not dependent on something else to work.

You need to acquire a service disc like this, they will have wiring diagrams that allow you to "read" the wiring & be able to tell what circuits do what & what are powered by what fuses & relays.

Amazon Amazon

Others can link different ones.

Most of us here can look under the dash & tell what actually came from Ford & what has been added. It comes pretty quick.

If it were mine, I'd pull the front seats out, lie on my back & start surgically removing all that crap that ain't Ford.

You'll kill something for sure, but you can figure out what it should be & put it back right with the right information.

TY for the link. I will buy this and look at it. It's just when I see wires, all I see is gobbldy gook...I don't know why. At one point just recently as this past Friday, when I started having the alarm issues, I had seriously thought about throwing in the towel and just selling the truck for what I could get out of it...she won't ever be the same as she was before she was stolen. I still feel that way today...

Well in your pictures I see 2 white connectors just hanging they do not look factory to me. Also using painters tape to hold wires is poor workmanship. I see a few wires just hanging that are not connected. They should be traced back to see what they were for and removed if they not being used for anything.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. The shop I had repair my truck apparently didn't do a good enough job in cleaning things up...and I paid them a lot of money to get it running again...When I get some free time this weekend, I will see about trying to trace the wires that are just hanging. I have no clue what any of them are for. I do know my factory stereo WAS working before it was stolen...and now, nothing. the clock doesn't even keep accurate time. It's all such a mess that I just don't know it's worth fighting with this crap to keep the truck...I have struggled with deciding whether or not it's even worth keeping anymore.

If you don't love it, send it on.

There's literally nothing that can't be fixed or replaced.

But if you can't see the end of the journey & imagine the results & satisfaction... it's not worth it.

Leave it alone for a while & come back at it.

Then decide. Good luck.

Problem is, I DO love it. This truck replaced my '12 SD F250 6.7l diesel Lariat my ex fiance stole from me after I left him due to domestic violence. That truck was my baby. He destroyed it. I spent 1.5 yrs in court trying to get my and my son's property back...to no avail. I ended up conducting a civil standby and When I got it back Nov 22nd last yr, he had let the rear end go dry...destroyed the rear diff. It also reeked of cigarette smoke. He ruined it. I didn't have the money to fix it. So, I sold it. Used some of the money from the sale of my diesel to buy this truck...and all was well, until it got stolen. I still feel violated because someone took what wasn't theirs to begin with and ruined this one too.
Nearly everyone I have spoken to has said to sell it. It's not worth dumping more money into it...I am torn. Ppl said why are you emotionally attached to a vehicle....well, I tell them my story about why. They still say it isn't worth fixing. And I am starting to believe them. I have to take a break from it or I am gonna do something I am gonna regret...selling it. I KNOW if I sell, I WILL regret it.

It's a common theme here. Get rid of something & regret it from then on.

Only thing you can do is learn to look at your situation different & as some would say, "get on the stick" to do the work necessary.

did your truck have a security system or remote start/entry system on it before theft that is now disabled?
the two 8 pin and 12 pin plugs look like they are for a remote entry and start/security system.

I was never given any key fobs...nothing. just the 2 sets of keys that the dealer had. I have no idea if it has an aftermarket alarm or not. Gonna need to have these wires gone through...I was wondering the same thing cuz of the plugs just hanging...
