Crankshaft Eater
8BA motor. I have 2 crankshafts, one 3 3/4" stroke, and one 4" stroke Mercury . Both have what looks like a chunk of metal missing, at EXACTLY the same spot !!!!!!!!! At the second crank throw, just below the clean out plug. I am totally perplexed. It almost looks like the molten metal was poured into the mold, but the metal did not fill incompletely. WTH !!!! Anyone else ever seen this ? Both cranks were from running vehicles. Don't know whats going on here. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

See photo below. It:s the same situation. Should I worry ? Just put it together ? By the way, Mercury crank was in a race car, and it's still in one piece.
