same here, I have the 2001 4x4 model and when ever it's cold the damn breaks squeek (started a month after I bought it) and no, it's not covered under the warranty because the breaks are "a natural wear and tear item".
Sorry guys, but there is no substitute for good old asbestos brakes. Thank the government for that. You can try one thing I have them try here, step on the brakes good and hard 2-3 times going road speed. I mean hard to a stop, but dont slide the tires. usually works for a few weeks then comes back. What you do is knock down the rust edge on the rotors.
Thanks, but no thanks...I'm not into whip lash. A good friend of mine is a machanic so I'll be able to get a good job done and not get screwed in the process.
You usually have to change the rotors at the same time as the brake pads on Escapes, they are made to wear out together... Reybesto's "Quiet Stops" and Wagner "Thermo Quiet" are good upgrade pads.....
On my 03 escape i had ford do a brake job and after that the brakes squeeled every time.....and ford said that was rare...but talked to ford mech. and he said that ford has two kinds of brakes. ford brakes and motorcraft brakes. motorcraft is cheaper and harder and may squeel. ford brand is softer cost more and will not squeel. i know i went through it.

That's odd, for any vehicle. I just put my first set of new rotors on mine and it had 200,780 miles.
Cold weather will make brakes do odd things. You could put the same kind of pads/rotors on 10 cars and they will all make a different sound or no sound at all.
