There is probably already threads on this subject, but curious if I remove the rear coffee can sized resonator on my 2019 6.2 will it make any difference in sound quality? I'm not looking for anything obnoxiously loud, just a little rumble over stock. Curious if anyone has removed just the resonator and what it sounded like. Thanks
Ok, I have never seen a second resonator on the 6.2L before the muffler. What configuration is your truck? Crew cab, extended cab, short bed, long bed?
Only seen the 2nd resonator on the 7.3L. And only on the crew cab long bed.
I cant imagine its doing much if anything audibly noticeable. The few 7.3L trucks I service with that mid resonator sound all the same as the ones with just the single resonator. Never seen it on a 6.2L but again the 6.2L trucks I service with just the single resonator are no loader than the 7.3L trucks with.
Racefan- if you do cut the resonator off and put in a straight pipe, please report back your sound results (at idle, cruising speed, acceleration). I have the same engine and exhaust and I am curious how it would sound without the resonator.
You'd be better off finding a performance muffler you like the sound of to replace the stock one if you want more rumble. Resonators are more about stopping drone than quieting the exhaust, so even though it will get slightly louder, you could end up with annoying drone at certain speeds, hopefully not your normal cruising speed.
Got brave and just deleted the muffler. Left both resonators and the stock tailpipe. I love the sound. Little loud on cold start but quiets down and has a nice rumble to it. At cruising speed its not loud in the cab at all. No noticeable drone so far, although I haven't towed anything yet.

quick question
I have a 2019 F250 6.2 with the 6”10 bed. Trying to replace the rear resonator as the original one rusted through. I have removed the old one and now I’m trying to get the new one in place but having an issue attaching it. Does the muffler have to come down to for it to fit right? Just not having enough space to maneuver it in place. Thanks
When I had my ‘13 extended cab with the 6.2 I removed the muffler but kept the resonator. I also moved the outlet to in front of the rear wheel. With a little cut n TIG I was able to tuck it up nice and tight to the body.
As noted above it had a nice tone but wasn’t overwhelming- it also had the benefit of not dumping at the rear of the truck as we had a pop up camper at the time.
