Hi all, I've been looking for a cam blank, or cam stock ( whatever it's called). I have called comp, crane, lunati and cam research. No one has a blank for a 460. All of them told me they will not sell a blank so I can have it ground to my specs. One said to give them the specs and they would do it. What other companies out there can I call to possible find a blank to purchase?
If your old stock core is good the best plan would probably be to just have it reground. Steve Demos can do that but right now I have the master for the 200H lobe so I'd have to send it back to him. Right now I'm just getting started with my cam grinding machine. I've got it all rebuilt, set up and working but I'm still in the process of getting my index plates and masters together.
The cam specs you were using before the E4OD ungrade, could Steve regrind my original came to those specs? I believe you said your current 200 specs could not be ground into a stock cam. The LSA could not be changed.
Steve has masters for the Torque Master lobes and those would go onto the stock 460 core no problem. The 205 @ .050 lobe ground as a single pattern would run very well.
Thank you again for helping me out. I've started the process of getting some masters together to go along with the ones that I already own. A few days ago a customer brought in a brand new HP289 cam that he bought from Ford in 1965. I straightened it and used it to make a master. I probably won't use that one very much but you never know I just might need a moderately small solid lifter lobe.
