Started out with hard extended starting . Monitored Fuel rail pressure after shutdown with torque pro , it was sometimes dropping too fast . I knew it could be injectors or fuel pump drain back problem. Chose to drop fuel tank at 255k miles ,replaced with dephi , had a hard time , had to make my own 6 foot nylon fuel line.
Ran great for two weeks then it got worse running . Finally torque pro said misfire cly 2 , each time I changed plugs boots cop , three different times . I bit the bullet and bought 8 new injectors at auto zone duralast $300 .
Pulled passenger fuel rail , left injectors in rail . Turned on key for pump, number 2 shot fuel out of it , no others . Put new set of 4 in . Engine smoked like hell for 2 miles but ran great . It quit smoking, but now I know no 2 flooded crank with fuel so tomorrow complete oil change .
I had changed all factory injectors at 130k , I planned on changing at 100k more .I now know injectors are crap and dont last 150k or more . Lucky I didn't hydro engine .
I knew better but got too busy . Spent 3 days solving this at a very bad time , floods ,high winds, other problems . I was stranded in the country for several days at a rental house. Don't let this happen to you , my step son likes carbs ,hates injectors, maybe he was right .

But it freaked me out since I was a best man in a catholic wedding in the military , my buddy told the priest I was Jewish . They had to get special permission from bishop ,the bride and I didn't find out what happened for 15 years . She was good catholic but he disliked his catholic upbringing .
She slugged him after she found out I wasn't Jewish , but too late she had three kids. He just laughed.

Saga part 2
I did the other 4 on drivers side today, just for kicks I left them attached and turned key on. Number 5 dripped gas. Four weeks ago I saw misfires on 5 so I put a new plug in as it had begun hard starting , I noticed it was black tipped so I assumed it was burning a lot of oil. Turns out that cyl was getting flooded.
My experience with injectors has not been good . The only thing I can think of is maybe I overdid injector cleaning additive in too little gas .
Injectors lasting over 150k --BS!
The last injectors were 2 hole spray these are 4 hole , don't know who makes them for dura last . They have a 3 year warranty, so 30k a year at most =90k miles . 20k a year= 60k miles . Better get them out before 100k miles .
That's good , but I was one of those that had to do a timing job at 130k .It had thrown a roller to the side. So ford warned everyone that those years had possibly bad injectors and extended warranty to 150k on just failed injectors. They would not replace any with non failed . Labor not included either. So I replaced all injectors with amazon type .
Now those were failing at 125k , maybe the same manufacture ,who knows .
Failing injectors leaking can destroy your engine by hydroing engine.
My thing is to inform those who need to know possibility's so they can be watchful .
If new ones fail can you imagine the rate of reman failures. The duty cycle on these are large over 100k miles .
So I keep seeing arguing(not really), but nobody, agrees what size we have, reason I ask is on the 87-96 FTE, it is said 19lbs, arent good past 300hp, but yet our 04-08 5.4L says 300hp, how can we not use on 87-96 for 300hp, but we can get 300hp out of them on 5.4L?
I did not get into the pressure rating of injectors . I know what you mean but I just went with the big box recommendations for injectors . I am not after performance improvements.I talked to some injector manufactures, reman people . I felt like it was kind of sleazy . Just my gut feeling . I wonder how many new injectors are really remans. .
