Exhaust system P2002 code

My 2017 f-450 6.7 105kmiles has a P2002 code but will regenerate from 100% to 0% with no problem, either driving or sitting at 2000RPM. Truck runs fine, what is the best route to trouble shoot this problem?

How often (miles) does the active regeneration run?

What do the exhaust tips look like? Clean or maybe a little gray ash or black from diesel soot? If some diesel soot, my thoughts here is a failure in the substrate (cracked filter).

If clean exhaust tips and since active regenerations are completing, maybe the beginning of too much ash buildup in the DPF since it's an efficiency issue?

For P2002, it generally means (according to documentation) the PMS (particulate matter sensor), EGT, ECT, MAF, NOx and IAT sensors are status "Ok."

yes, check all the sensors for operating correctly.

P2002 usually means a new DPF due a crack in the substrate.

Thanks, I believe that a new DPF is needed.

so I think you are all out of warranty. But ask for some help with Ford. Be sure they check for any TSB or anything that may apply.

Be advised the DPF and SCR are one piece so therefore, around $3500 bucks last time I checked. Plus labor.

I will go to Ford and ask a few pertinent questions concerning the possibly cracked substrate in the infamous DPF and possibly testing the sensors in question. Then being assured that the DPF is cracked, its off to the bank! A 4 to $5,ooo bill every 100k is somewhat daunting at best. Thanks for your input concerning my trucks trouble, I will let you all know what develops.

Yes, technician troubleshooting is needed to be sure since the DOC/SCR/DPF is an expensive piece of hardware. From my armchair, I think it's a failed DPF based on what you've described. To clarify and to my understanding, the sensors I listed are fine because those checked out Ok within the 10 minutes monitoring duration for DPF efficiency checks so the code (programming) triggers the P2002 based on the results otherwise you would have a different or additional DTCs.

Contact Ford Customer Service and ask if there is any possibility that they could help with the cost of the parts at least.

Get rid of the BS. Its cheaper then putting in another one that will fail again.
spend $5,000 to start the clock over driving towards another $5,000. Insanity is an understatement.

It could be that the state the op lives in does emissions testing on diesels or he runs commerically.
