Hey guys I have a 1967 f250 2wd it's got a t18 (I belive, it's so dirty i haven't found any casting numbers yet) in it right now and I'm wondering if there is a direct swap that's a 5 speed? Something I can put in without having to get a driveshaft made or anything. Any thoughts would be great. If there isn't I'm just gonna run this tranmisson for this year.
You did not say if there was something wrong with the T18 like popping out of gear or hard shifting?
I had a T18 in my 81 F100 and found a NP435 was a bolt in and I am sure the drive shaft would have bolted in but I added Advance Adapter's over drive so had to shorten it.
Now if you are looking for over drive the only option is Gear Vender's over drive, but sit down when you check out the price.
And yes you will have to shorten the drive shaft.

The truck originally had a 352 bu I'm putting a 400 in it. Yeah nothing is really wrong with he transmission I was just looking to find something with overdrive but if I'm gonna need a drive shaft made ill wait till next winter to do that. I'm not racing or daily driving the truck it's just gonna be to cruise around once in a while.
I swapped a granny 4 speed to a Tremec TKX 5 speed to gain the overdrive and it’s been great. The truck is much more enjoyable to drive and cruises at reasonable rpm’s at highway speeds.
Being you are going with a 400 dose that use the more common bell bolt pattern like for a 460 motor?
If so that may open up more options for transmissions like the ZF5 as I know of a 1 or 2 that have gone with the ZF5 behind the 460 motor.
Then again if you dont need the truck type transmission the TKO might be a better option?
I will tell you how ever you go for over drive will not be cheap and may not be needed if not going on long trips on the high way.
I went OD only because I had to swap the bed T18 for a NP435 and the AA OD was $1700 to my door not counting the drive shaft.
I also drive the truck 40 miles each way to / from work on the high way with a speed limit of 70 MPH and everyone is going 80+ MPH
I also plan to go out farther for shows so the OD I think was worth it for me.
I don't think the 400 and 460 share a bell housing bolt pattern but I could be wrong.
Other than some very early blocks, they do share the pattern. But there are depth and spacing issues which are explained elsewhere. I'll try to find that information unless someone beats me to it.
Car trans have a higher 1st gear ratio not more than 3.5:1 compared to a truck trans which have a 1st of like 5:1 or more. They are also smoother shifting with tighter shift patterns.
With going to a 400, you must use 69-79 302 or 77-79 351M/400 perches for the motor to sit correctly. You will have to drill new holes for them.
