Im looking into getting strobe lights for my truck because I use it to plow snow and stuff. My question is I was looking into a 8 head system and the WHELEN system is about $1100 .... why is it so expensive ??
Am I paying for the name or is that the price I should expect for a 8 light system ???
I use to work for a towing company and those those systems arent cheap. If you check any towing suppliers they have other suppliers and different prices. The kind you get will greatly affect how long they work. Some take more abusde then others. Hope that helps.
i work for a truck body, plow, installer we install strobes all the time and no, there not cheep, to cut down on the price ask your self a few ?'s like do i need 8 heads, or will 4 work, we use a company called aw direct, they have a pretty good selection and some 1 might help u get exactly what u want/ need awdirect.com hope i could help
I agree with crash, why an 8 head system? I know plowers that just use 2 in the rear, because the front ones are blocked by the plow. At work we install "sho-me" strobe lights, plenty bright day or night. If you are going to use them other then plowing, then maybe a 4 head system, 2 rear, 2 front should be sufficient.
Also check your local laws regarding strobes, in NJ you need a permit, or it is just an excuse to get pulled over and ticketed.
And if you are installing them yourself, do not touch the glass bulbs the oil on your fingers will shorten the life of the bulbs.
One other choice, lately we have been selling LED strobes less expensive, but also not as bright during the day, IMHO, but very noticable at night.
