I recently purchased a 1979 f350 that was a former uhaul truck. The previous owner thought that it had a 330ft in it, but everything looks to me like it is an fe of some size. It does not have the front motor mount and the exhaust manifolds definitely look like they belong on a 360. The only thing that makes me wonder is there are bolt holes in the head that look like they would be where the crossover port on a 330ft manifold would bolt in the middle. Any ideas?
I have a 78 f350 that was a uhaul with the 330 and it has the exact same manifold that is missing the two crossover bolts also. I don't know what they came off of buts it's identical to yours.
I have a 79 f350 former uhaul truck with a 330ft MD engine. I just purchased it and am trying to get it to run/idle good. It either has some vacuum leaks or I getting ready to swap engines as it has around 12" of vacuum at idle. I sprayed around some carb clean and it raises the idle pretty much around the whole base of the carb. My question is what is the oval shaped body on the side of the carb? It looks like it should have a hose hooked to the back. Is it a vacuum port or maybe a spot for a heated intake? Any help is appreciated.
The item you are pointing out appears to be the altitude compensation device. A description and instructions here--all three illustrations are of interest with the 3rd one giving the close up detai of the item:

Your OEM exhaust manifolds had the exhaust port but not the bolts through the manifold. Pictures here:

They definitely look like fe manifolds but there are no leaks. You would think it would be pouring exhaust out in the center where they dont even touch.
