I thought it was 7.5 Gal? My gage was down to 1/8th. Every time I started the truck I'd get a warning about it and it was below 180 miles. Bought 3 jugs and put 2 in figuring to go another 150-200 miles before putting in the third. But now the gage reads full. Im ok with not needing more for a while but just curious. I think I'll go back to filling it at a truck stop.
Gauge is not linear.
There is about 1.5 gallons ABOVE the full reading.
That is why they go so far on a completely filled tank without the gauge dropping.
I am amazed yours will go down to close to the 1/8 mark, mine drives me crazy after it gets down to 1/2, constant warnings of doom on the DIC messages.
Just use 2.5 gallons, convert the dash gauge increments to 1/3's, once you are getting close to the last 1/4 tank, fill with 2-2.5 DEF gallons. Pretty easy math.
I tend to refill the DEF when the gauge is reading visually 3/8 tank left. That's about 2.8 gallons left of DEF.
