Rear shock advice

I have an 02 E350 Quigley van. I am replacing the semi float rear axle with a full float LS. The van is raised about 3-4 inches.I need to replace the shocks at the time of the axle swap. Quiqley uses a weld on plate on the lower shock mount (on the axle) to compensate for the raised body. I have posted on the Sportsmobile forum and gotten a few rep;ies as to how to get away from the weld on adapters. Has anyone raised the body and if so,what did you do for the rear shocks? Thanks for any replies.

The best and most experienced answers will come from SMB, IMHO anyway.

I am not sure I know exactly what you are wanting?
"Get away from the weld on adapters"?
You will need rear shock mounts, and most, if not all are welded on the axle
Explain your want to not just grab an off the shelf HD shock, and figure out where to weld on your shock mounts?
I work on a ton of Moab Jeeps that tear theirs off and we just re weld them back on
If you were to bolt on a shock mount like the old sway bar mounts, that might work, but also might get loose and fall off
Maybe that is why you have few replies
Nobody wants to tell you to buy an old stick welder?
My old DC stick welder was only 75 bucks
Good luck

As I rummaged around the junkyeard I noticed almost every shock mount on 1997-2005 van and truck was welded on. The exception was a 2000 F250. For some reason this one is bolted on. So the bolt-on type is an option, just not the most secure.

Sweet
Any factory setup should work just fine, for about forever
I was not aware that Ford had / used that setup and only knew off hand, that the sway bar was that style
So, using that style may be advantageous because you can remove and replace it, in case you run over a Bullephant

Quigley welds an "extension" onto the existing mounts to allow stock length shocks to work with the raised body. They adjust the rear body height( to make the body level)for the added body lift needed to give front axle to frame clearance. I spoke to Quigley and, apparently, they still use the same system. They sell the weld on extension pieces for $8 each. I was trying to use a longer shock rather than weld on new adapters.Guess Ill just get out the welder.

That bolt on mount may be an option. I will check with ford and see if it is still available. I like the angle it will allow the shock to mpunt, rather than with the weld on extender. thanks

A good jolt while off road would relocate that no matter how tight the bolt is, I can't believe any company would do this.

I recieved the new mounts from e-bay. They are without u-bolts. no big deal. I agree about the off road jolt, however,i dont go off road except beach sand and there arent any rocks there. If it workedfor ford, it should work for my requirments. time will tell!
