Anyone have experience with the Ford maintenance plan?
first diesel so wasn’t sure if it made sense or not. I have never gotten it on another vehicle.
sorry if this is a duplicate post. I did a search and did not find one. If there is a thread please point me to it.
complete waste of money. The diesel oil is so easy to change a 5 year old could do it. Filter is plane as day in sight under the passenger side. Oil plug is easy to reach. 30 mins or less you have it changed yourself. You will spend more time driving to the dealer to get changed. It costs under $100 to change with pure synthetic and MC filter. Every 5k I do it. But ford will only do it every 10k. Fuel filters are every 20k I do them, easy as well a 10 year old could do that. Next to the fuel tank, and under the hood plane as day. $75 or less for those at local auto parts store. Easy, easy to change. Tires are more difficult to rotate then changing the fuel filter and oil. That's it for a diesel. Nothing more then a gas motor, just takes more oil, and fuel filters are bigger and get half the life out of compared to a gas.
Don't forget to grease your 4x4 axle joints every oil change. Easy to do when you rotate tires. Zero is right on your face.

I've got to find these 5 and 10 year old kids.
Do you have video of them doing these super quick oil changes and fuel filter changes???
You know, some people just don't want to DIY it, some don't have a place to.

Well then the service plan is right up their alley.
And not having a place is BS. Piece of cardboard and tarp to put down while changing oil or fuel filters is easy. I travel for a living. I've serviced my truck in hotel parking lots, job sites even where I boondock. If there's a will there's a way. If not pull out the greenbacks and pay the man.

my kid, can. But that does explain why you need the service plan. You are either too lazy or dumb. Maybe both? Don't insult kids that are willing to learn at a young age under adult supervision. Never to young or in your case to "old" to learn how to start turning wrenches! So don't turn your nose up😀
OP asked if it was worth it due to new to diesel. No it's not, no different then his gas vehicles, actually easier then my old f150 5.4 2v I had. Do it yourself or take to your favorite service center of your liking where you have been with your previous vehicle! Is that a better answer.

yep, I have helped my dad change his leaking fuel filter in an Upscale RV park before on the nice cement! Little cardboard and rags go along ways

Thank you, this is what I was looking for. I do all of my own routine maintenance on my gassers. Figured it would be about the same, maybe another filter or two, but thought I would check.

yes sir, no problem. You will enjoy your new rig. Ford engineered these 6.7L's routine fluids and filters easy to access. Just make sure you have a 5 gallon bucket under your oil pan when draining it, so you don't over fill it. Been there done that!

Actually, I use a 4.5 gallon bucket, left over drywall mud pail. Tad bit shorter.
Do you mean a plan that covers routine maintenance such as oil changes and tire rotations, or do you mean an ESP, Extended Service Plan which should be more aptly called Extended Warranty Plan, which fixes non-routine failures for a longer period of time than the original factory warranty provided.
I concur with others above, it would have so be some really good deal to be worth the money for oil changes and tire rotations. But extended warranty is another matter. As I get closer to the 36,000 mile mark I lean toward ESP, not because of the power train, but all those wonderful features that cost way to much to fix.
I knew two young girls 7 and 10 that tore down the top end of a engine.

My X's daughters were 7 and 10 when they tore down the top end of my 2000 Chevy 1500 5.3L engine. After the divorce, I deleted every photo that I could find.
As I recall, I only broke two bolts loose for them. They spent hours under the hood of that old truck. They also helped with brake repairs. Great kiddos! 👍

With this logic there's no reason to pay anyone to do anything for you. Anyone can learn or figure out how to do anything. No need to use an accountant to do your taxes, a plumber to work on your plumbing, an electrician to wire your home, etc, etc, etc. No need to go out to eat at a restaurant either, you can cook for yourself at home. Not everyone cares to do their own oil changes, not everyone likes to play in shyt clogged pipes either, which is why there are plenty of people who do all those jobs I mentioned and along with any other service job.
Not all places people live allow you to work on your vehicles in the driveway, there are quite a few apartments in my area that won't allow it, and I live in a rural area, so I can imagine city living would have this apply to their living situation more than where I live.
Not wanting to do your own maintenance has nothing to do with being too lazy or dumb to do the job. The OP has yet to discuss pricing, I've seem some pretty decent maintenance plans that are about the price of doing it myself or even cheaper, I doubt that's the case but we don't have enough information to answer the OP's question based on the information provided.

Exactly, some want to do it and some don’t.
I like to do mine and on the Super Duty it’s a pretty easy since there is no need to jack it up or fun it up on ramps. Jus slide under it and do the oil change. Add in a Fumoto oil change valve and you can drain it directly containers for disposal.
As an add-on to Ford’s extended warranty coverage, drivers can purchase a Ford Protect Premium Maintenance Plan. These protection plans cover:
Routine inspections
Preventative care
Wear and tear items like wiper blades, brake pads, and struts
Oil filter changes
Multi-point inspections
All factory-required maintenance
I bought it, haven't used it yet. I got both, the premium care AND the Premium Maintenance with service intervals of 5k miles...for 7 years. This may sound silly but it was the wiper blades that made me look harder at this option. Sure I could do it myself, but I got 7 years of rolling into a shop and having them do it for me. Makes sense for me but only time will tell. Paid 4284.00 for both which breaks down to $51.00 a Month. Will you average $51.00 or higher on maintenance fees per month? Is it worth the piece of mind to be covered with the "ESP" just incase? Makes sense for me on a 6.2l 2022 XLT. Now I can spend $ and time on everything else I'm wrenching on around this place, motorcycles, hot rods, RVs, Tractors, ****...I can mow the lawn. Time is $ for me. Good luck what ever you decide.
