4r100 troubleshooting

My buddy has a 01 f250 with some transmission issues. He says he was just driving around like normal and it just quit working. I have pulled the transmission and checked the fluid and it looked fine. I had someone look at the converter and they said that looked good. I know these are electronic so I was wondering if there are some tests I can do to check the sensors/ computers to see if those might be the cause. This is my first time dealing with one of these so any and all help is appreciated. TIA

It might have been good to check the transmission codes.

I scanned it before and my scanner didn’t bring anything up

Don’t know the model but it’s a $500 blue point scanner

There is NOTHING electronic that can cause no gears. It is a mechanical failure. Tear the trans down and find out what broke.
