Hub-centric wheels are designed for the center bore of the wheel to be a perfect match to the vehicle's hub, sometimes called a hub pilot. This allows the wheel and tire assembly to be centered on the hub, which is the most accurate way to install your wheels.

Hub-centric rings
don't carry any load and are not required for a secure installation as the studs hold the rim on to the hubs

Because the studs have to be longer and so does the threaded area between the lug nut and the hub which makes it more prone to stretching.

I learn something new every day. According to this article, the vertical load is carried by the friction between the wheel and the hub which is achieved via the tension in the stuf holding the wheel to the hub though. So how does a longer stud experience lateral loads if properly torqued?

thats the issue

if you get longer studs, it should be ok as the non threaded part would go through the spacer for strength
