I think my next exhaust job, I'm gonna redfo mine and have the pipes exit on each side 45* in front of the rear wheels.
The pipes are gonna be facing slightly down but right at the tires, and I will tuck then in sorta so you won't see them unless you really look.

What do you guys think?

Hey I've got to pass the Emission thing here in CO. Your tax $ at work I took my stock tailpipe-removed the muffler-shortened the tailpipe and with a little sawzall and mig magic was able to route the pipe straight back from the cat to just in front of the right rear tire-cut the mounting rod off the muffler and welded it to the pipe so it is just below the body mount-took the rubber mount ( the thing w the 2 holes in it) and bolted it to the body mount-slipped the mount rod through the rubber and Voila!-a good sounding ( Rumble but not loud) 2.5 cat back system-used all the factory parts-BEST PART cost-NADA but about an hour and a little mig welding looks great and will get the sound ya want

Roadkill, thats a good idea. I was going to do that with mine, come out in front of the back tires with 4 inch cannons, but the muffler shop said i couldnt because my transfer case being in the way, and that if he did it then the left side wouldnt sound right because of to many sharp curves in the pipe to go around the transfer case then back out. So needless to say im still stuck with the rusted out factory exhaust that has broke off under my bronco.

The ideas about going out the back is something ive never thought about. I wouldve never thought that they would black up my back glass. So now im back to stage one and dont know what i want to do. I want it as loud as i can get it. Ive thought about dumping it underneath with true duals and glass packs, but im afraid it would pack up with mud to easily.

Any suggestions on how i can run my exhaust is very welcomed, but just remember i want loud .

Thanks

"I have never seen a car with a hollowed out cat pass emissions."

I don't know. I've never tried it. But if it passed the emissions part, and they look under there with the mirror and see the hollowed out cat (they have no way of knowing it is hollow) then it passes.

Broncobillybob,

Did you have any problems with the transfer case getting in the way? Does it not black up the side windows like that? The only problem about doing it like that (and nothing against doing it that way) is that everybody around here does the exhaust like that. I just dont wanna do what everyone else does. I would love to exit before the rear tires, but cant get it like that according to the muffler shops because of the transfer case being in the way .

Anyway thanks for the tip and any others will be great.

Thanks

90ebbronc,
my rear side glass is fine, nice sound. i have a factory y pipe to a flowmaster installed by a mechanic. i wish knew how to do all that but that's the way it went down. before i had factory mufflers removed they were side exit at a 90 degree angle, just infront of the bumper. if my pic wasn't fuzzy u could see. i'll ttry and clean it up when i get back from class. college is dumb. -wb

Broncobillybob,

Yeah thats how mine is originally, turns out to a 90 degree angle just in front of the bumper. Needless to say it is rusted out and has broke off, the drivers side is somewhere underneath, and the passenger side is broke off next to the rear tire. The guy i have doing it is going to cut off the cat. convertors for me (shhhh), but i still wish i could exit out before the rear tires. lol I may just go ahead and exit out like yours, but no 'muffler' just glass packs and 4" echo chambers.

The reason why i wanted to exit before the rear tires, is so when i pull up next to ppl that has a system. When they have it so loud that it shakes my seat, then i wanna be able to just barely give it a high steady rev and drown out their system, and also itll be right in their ear so they cant hear the system .

Thanks

Yeah a pre rear tire exit is exactly what i want, but everywhere ive checked at said they cant because of the transfer case in the way. They could, but they would have to go all the way to the passenger side to go around the transfer case, then make a 90 degree turn to get in front of the driver side rear tire. Let me know if this can be done in a much easier way.

Thanks

Give 'em one for me too!

I like the look in front of the back tire. Somewhere I heard it will mess up your back wheels, make them black, or take off clearcoats. I don't know about that. I think people make more of an issue than it really is about turning glass and such black.

Yeah i love the look with the pipes coming out before the rear tire. Does anyone have suggestions on how to do this with the transfer case in the way, or is it almost impossible to do and still get a great sound.

Thanks

Well, my exhaust is a true duels from the dealer, the guy had the paperwork to show me, when he ordered the truck.
The pipes go from the manifolds then sorta 45 into the bottom of the frame rails, then run along the bottom then 45 back inside the frame behind the t-case. Thats were my cherry bombs sit.
When ever I get a suspension lift, i'm gonna have redo my whole exhaust. So the drivers side runs right underneith the front drive shaft.

I know, its a odd way for the pipes to run.
