manual hubs

my truck (00 x limited 4x4)has no markings other than a dot on the hub.no auto or locked position, i realize that turning them counter clockwise puts them in auto mode,but was wondering why they arent labled.

Maybe the were replaced? Or the previous owner (are you the orginal owner?) just cleaned them too well.

the trk was a one owner and i just bought it two weeks ago,the other hubs ive seen were etched with the auto and locked indicators so i wouldnt think they could be easily removed,the guy is 77 and only used it to travel,never off roaded it.it is strange,i know the complete history of the trk and the center caps are like every other one i have seen.guess its a mystery.
