I own a 2000 Ford F-250 with the 7.3L engine. It is a well used work truck with over 500,000 miles. I have just came across a new issue with the truck that I haven't been able to find on these forums. I went out to start it one day and got a few cranks that slowed down as they went and no start. I tried a few more times and got less cranks each time. At this point when I try to start it I get one crank if I am lucky and then a few clicks and if I try to start it longer I sometimes get the windshield wipers to start... From what I have read it sounds like the CPS could be the issue, but I'm not sure that would explain the weird accessory issues. (Could be a different issue that isn't related.) Any help that could be provided would be much appreciated!
Quite possible it is the starter, or fender mount starter relay, or battery cable to starter.
I would place key to the run position in Park and cross the two large posts on the passenger fender starter relay and see if it cranks up normally or not
Also mentioned in another thread the op started was good cable connections and a minimum rpm and voltage are required before the computer will fire the injectors. If it is to the point the batteties will only rotate the engine once, that needs to be addressed first.
What is the voltage of each battery? What is the voltage koeo? Voltage while cranking?
Start by load testing the batteries individually. As mentioned earlier crusty battery connections are no bueno for these trucks so you will want to clean those up really good and diagnose from there.
