Carb help

I have a 1988 safari Serengeti motorhome with a Ford 460 that needs a carb. The carb information is;

E6JL-9510-AB
LIST-50278-1
0477

Can anyone tell me the type of carb I need or will work?

Well as you can see, it's a Holley. IIRC it's a spreadbore design. If it was mine, I would replace it with a Quadrajet.

I don't know what any of that means. Do you have a part number or anything.

What would lead you to this conclusion (speadbore) with only a little to see? Just asking.

To the OP,

Hopefully a member here named subford who is very knowledgeable on 460 motorhomes will drop by and have something for you.

Any more details?

Holley made carbs where square bore, never seen a spread bore Holley. Motorcraft had a spread bore for 460s. Should be able to put a regular Holley 4 barrel on there. But will need to change the fuel line and a couple other things to make it hookup properly.

If possible, I'd like a part number for AutoZone or oriellys to just order a carb where I don't have to change anything else out. You know stock as possible. Bolt on? I got a buddy who's time is limited and he will help me if I get the right parts and all that. I really appreciate your help. The carb on it is straight trash. Caught on fire and all the good stuff. RV is currently disabled on side of road. I'm disabled and living in it full time. I don't need anything extra or fancy, just something that will work and as easy as possible. I'd pay for help!

Welcome to FTE.

3rd one down is a rebuild kit for your carb:

Is this a California vehicle?

I posted the above while you posted about the fire....

Do you have other damage? I can't imagine just bolting on a carb is going to make it work.

Is this built on an E350 van chassis?

The numbers you posted are the numbers you need to search by.

O'Reilly, Autozone and NAPA come up with nothing when searched by vehicle type.

I believe summit racing sells reman factory replacement carbs. They are not cheap though.

This one is an oddball.

OP, if not required by emissions inspections, might end up going with:

Amazon Amazon

And then a 600 CFM Holley compatible with Ford AT can be had.

I can get it to run but it dies from flooding I believe. The float is stuck perhaps. I can even get it to stay running if I turn the fuel pump on and off before it dies.

It's a big 34' RV . Safari Serengeti. full size. Class a. Ford chassis. Ford 460.

I moved your post--you were somewhere else.

So it is an F53 or 59 chassis.... Do you have the VIN available? I am thinking this is really an '87, sent to the motorhome folks and sold as an '88.

If the float is stuck and it is not burned out and damaged etc, then a rebuild kit is the fastest way out of (or back to) town.

His carburetor is NOT a spread bore. No adapter needed to put a Holley onto that motor.

I did find this info that will be helpful to find a bolt on carb or rebuild kit.

https://www.carburetion.com/CarbNumb...umber=R50278-1

Edit. Give this part # to oreilly’s for a rebuild carb. 4-851

Hhhhmmm. The kit, if the pictures are right, certainly isn't a spread bore.

I still think OP can get by with a rebuild kit.....

He could rebuild it if he wants. It will probably work good. Might be able to just replace the needle and seat O rings. They tend to shrink and cause flooding.
