gear ratio question

I am going to swap in a front axle from 77 250 in to my 74 250 to get front disc brakes. I am trying to see a bout the gear ratio is the same. both tags say 4 09 on them. I took the cover off the 77 and it has 45-11 stamped on the ring gear. is that the same as 4 09 or did some one swap different gears in there? also the 77 has external locking hubs on it the kind with the spacer. Is that an hd axle and what hubs should I put in milemarkers or warn?

Count the teeth if you have to, 45 on the ring, divided by 11 on the pinion equals 4.09.

all 77 3/4 tons came with the big hubs they are a true full floating hub like the rear axle power tranfer is from the axle through the bolts to the hub to the rotor. Remember you'll need the the brake booster aand master from the disc brake truck and the proportion valve. I did this swap on my 75 and took the front brake lines and hoses and had to use an adapter to hook up threar brake lines to the 77 p-valve if nyou can get it take the pitman arm and steering link from the 77 the arm is about 1-1 1/2 inches longer and you get more leverage for your steering
