After I noticed an exhaust leak, I decided to get A new gasket. After torquing them down in proper sequence, I noticed my header on the exhaust #1 seems bent or warped.
anyone else experience this? I have never ran this engine HOT and always followed proper torques. Anyone have a fix?
You will have to try different things. Do you have any old gaskets laying around? You could try a double gasket there and see if it seals. If you are brave, you could take a grinder and a file and grind that area flat and then use a new gasket. A straight edge layed on the header should help you get it straightened out.
You just found out why headers are not liked by some.
You can pull them and see if you an bend it but i dont think that will work.

i will live with the exhaust leak for a little. when i put my cam in (when they come back in freaking stock) i will try what franklin suggest, if it doesnt work out, oh well! learned my lesson on the headers.
What you could try doing if the exhaust flanges are the same thickness as the intake flanges, get some steel bar and create a brace that can lay across the intake and exhaust flanges at the head using the bolts for the intake to hold it all square.
That is one idea I came up with looking at your layout. It appears the problem is caused by there being no support to keep that area of the exhaust flange in place.
after heating the headers and attempting to "flatten" the headers, and using the double gasket seal, it has seem to close up a little more. i will learn to live with it until i get some time to either buy replacement headers or go to efi manifolds. the heddman headers are a PITA anyway.
