Speculation is pretty much the entirety of the DIY column. Things like, would anodizing the pistons before coating do anything good?
Since I don't imagine the folks providing the service are going to be specific in their findings, I guess I'm your Bartleby... I would prefer not to.
but I'll do it anyway and post pics.
I did find an old swamps video machining pistons on yt. They took off a lot of meat.
I forgot to mention that Swamps also ceramic coated my pistons so maybe that made up for lost volume? They did not share specifics with me so I am speculating at best.
Leonard, you're a smart man....how thick do you suppose the ceramic coating is?

Anodizing come in really two flavors, which are outlined at the link. I use this company for SOME of my plating/finishing needs. You would need to know the alloy the pistons are made from.
I'd be so caught up in my own projects I could never make a living with a machine like that. I'd be on the corner with the other bums holding a sign "need metal every bit helps".
Watching that I was thinking hmm... Ti pistons...
It's bad enough with my little home gamer mill.

At least you have a mill. All I have is a wannabe drill press.

Yeah well, I don't have a coke machine.
Mine is a variation of the sieg X2.7L, a WEN 33075T. I just happened to catch it on sale a few years ago with free shipping, just under $1600 I think it was. Got some issues and some mods but surprisingly capable for what it is.
