Is this option a waste for someone looking to just haul fifth wheels? Is it more for someone looking to hook a plow up the front or haul a truck camper in the bed?
I have so many questions for an order but I don't want to just waste money. Dealer's are closed today.
I will say this about my personal situation. On my previous two F-250's, I had to use air bags to help with the bouncing of my 5th wheel. But with the camper package on this truck, I have not needed the air bags. Yet anyway. I do still get some bounce, but it is not near as bad as it was on my previous two trucks, and is manageable. Again, this is just my experience, with my 5th wheel.
Snowplow adds higher alternator ratings, Camper adds rear sway bar. Both add higher front spring rates. Both add on the auxiliary (overload) rear spring.
For the $$$$ spent, either one option package or the option "combo" package will be money well spent.
Hey guys, slight thread revival…if I get a 2024 F-350 without the snow plow/camper package, but decide later on to get a slide-in camper, is it a fairly easy aftermarket add for rear sway and front springs to equal what I would have got with the package? I ask not because I’m against the package from the dealer, but just if I find the “perfect” truck sans package, not sure I want to pass up just because of this package missing. Thanks!
Yes, you can definitely find/buy the alternative front springs, which may be ideal as you can then select which level you want (4800, 5200, 5600, 5990), and the OE or aftermarket rear sway bar is easily found and installed. There are also Tremor package front springs in most of those weight ratings (all except 5990 I think), providing about 1.25 in lift too.
The only gap might be you would not have the higher rated alternator output/dual alternators or dual batteries from the Snow Plow Prep pkg, but not sure those are deal breakers for a camper (which may also have solar anyway)?
I have the camper package on mine for towing the 5th wheel. On two occasions now, I have had to do some fancy driving to avoid stupid people. I was glad I had the extra stabilizer bar. I don't think the package made the ride harsh, but it is a truck. Wife likes the ride better when towing, she says.

you can bolt on everything except the camper certification document.
I think it was a $300 + or - option for the camper/snow plow package, wtf why not ?
Not about the cost, it’s about availability. I may pull the trigger on what I want (sans package) now vs. ordering with package and waiting 4 months. Especially since I can add the components later myself.
