Hi,
My daughter's 04 Rav 4 is eating a headlight bulb around every 6 months. She's been buying hi intensity at around $30 each. They have told her that they have a shorter life, but that's just ridiculous. She wants them because one of the places that she has to go for her job is in the country, full of deer and quite dark.
They're just 9003 halogens and 6 months is just absurd -- and yes she knows about fingers on the glass. Any recommended brands -- or anything that might cause the short life.
I thought about electrical issues and I'll check that the next time I see her. Could be overvoltage I suppose, but it only seems to be the headlights. And they don't flicker or anything, so it's probably not a flaky supply.
I would consider a set of driving lights that she only needs to use for those trips to the country... that would lessen the need for high intensity headlights, although I agree there's something wrong. I put Sylvania Silverstar Ultras in my 2016 Traverse last September, and they're almost always on because they act as DRLs... no issues.
i would tell her to slow down and put regular bulbs back in.
people complain about me driving slow at night.
my reply is i drive 30 mph because i only have 45 mph headlights.
my daughter was the same way with night driving until my grand daughter came into her life.
now she is a 40 mph night driver too. well, the fact she wrecked two cars hitting deer because she was driving too fast may have helped too.
