I'm looking to update my 1979 F100's headlights. I purchased some LED headlights that are in the shape of a circle instead of the standard square for this year. I also purchased circular headlight shrouds that the headlights rest in.
I removed the stock headlights today, and as I expected there are some non-compatibilities. The bracket that the headlight would normally fit into is also square.
Would that mount up to the current setup? If so, would there be any other bracket/cup/mount issues I'd need to look at when switching to circular from square headlights?
The headlight shape is based off the trim package, not the year. A "Custom" package (lowest package available, for like fleet trucks) even in 79, had round headlights. So you are having the old classic I want 7" round headlights instead of the rectangle headlights dilemma. Yes you need the round bucket and you might even need the L round headlight bracket that the round headlight bucket mounts to. I have sold the L bracket and the round bucket as a package deal in the past. I am currently out of stock.
Same deal when you go from a 78/79 to a 73-77 grill set up. Use same 79 core support and just drill new holes for the L brackets. I believe there are drill dimples in the core support. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...rill-swap.html
