Im going to be doing a 3G alternator conversion on my truck and I just picked up the 70A/100A adjustment arm new off ebay and wondering how does this arm compare to the 40A/60A alternator arm. I know you have to hammer the arm flat for a 1G to 3G conversion but that is with the common 40A/60A alternator arm and I dont know about this one.
I would assume the arc in the arm is larger for the larger diameter alternator. I have modified the arms before and they worked fine, but it required cutting and welding so it would clear the alternator housing.

That's what I was thinking but I'm not sure. I never put them side by side but my 78 mercury has a 75A 1G alternator and just from the looks they look like they are the same case as the lower amperage alternators. It might be a minor difference in size that you don't notice till they are side by side.
I will be mounting the arm first to the engine on the stand then mock it up with the 3G alternator. Rather do the modifications on the stand than leaning over the fender.
If you need serious modifications to the arm or want to keep the original arm intact, I buy the chrome Mr Gasket universal arms sometimes and modify them. It has the curved slot you need and that is hard to fabricate. It's flat but bends easily in a vice and new holes can be drilled once you grind the chrome off where you want to drill the hole.

I got the alternator adjustment arm in yesterday, I didnt put them side by side but they honestly look the same but there has to be a difference for the parts manual to have two distinct brackets for the same engine. They have the same part number for the alternator mount bracket for both alternators which tells me there is a difference.
This weekend if I cant source a 3G alternator locally I have a old junk 60A 1G alternator off another truck from work I can use as a mock up to see if this bracket lines up properly to try and see what difference there is if there is one. If this one will work and I just need to hammer it out I wont mind, didnt cost me but $30 plus shipping for this NOS bracket.
