I only found four. Where do I look for the others?!
Front grill
Windshield behind mirror
Drivers mirror
Passenger mirro
CHMSL ( top center of back of cab)
Tailgate handle
and the new one on top of tail gate that works when tailgate is open.
Sure seems to be the consensus by the posts on these forums. Buy an SUV when you need a pickup truck, buy a Ranger when you need and F150, buy an F150 when you need an F250, buy a SRW F250/F350 when you need a DRW, seems like human nature to rather live by a learning curve than recognize whats already been figured out.
Bingo. Same thing with the trailer-pro backup thing, 360 cameras, etc...all in an effort to make it easier for those who have no business behind the wheel of a big truck, to get behind the wheel of a big truck and tow with it. Just who I want on the highway next to me. Oh, and go ahead and throw in a flat screen TV on the dash to further distract them....
I guess the same can be said about a calculator as well. Do you bust out a piece of paper and pencil when you need to figure something out or use your calculator on your phone? Technology isn't always bad, there's nothing wrong with a tool that helps make the job easier. If you don't want to use it then don't but there are plenty of folks out who do use it and some can't back without it but I'm sure there are plenty of guys who drive trucks daily that use it. Do you work harder not smarter or do you work smarter not harder?

Agreed, working smarter and not harder. The issue I take with all the make it easy technology is the people who rely on it still dont understand below or above the scope. Two types of users utilize a calculator, those who understand the math they are using and those that only understand the number the calculator provides after using someone else's equation with no clue of its mathematical pathway up to that point and after that point.
Same goes for a truck driver that cant back up a trailer without a computer to figure out the geometry and physics of the 2D equation. Someone who can actually operate and back up a trailer takes into account the entire 3D equation.
We as a race are working ourselves right to extinction wanting AI to step in for us instead of actually learning and stimulating our most important organ.

I get that for sure! Based on my high school son's math work they teach them calculator before paper method these days, which is in line with what you're saying.

My approach with my two children has always been you figure it out, then once you understand it you can use the easy ways. Both my son's have proven able to comprehend everything expected of them at their age and mental growth stage. I have one son who loves learning, the other has the lazy gene and I struggle with him. I dont push either of them because ultimately they are their own people and once adults are going to make the choices of their personality no matter how ive raised them but I damn well dont allow either to get away with todays societal norm of lowered standards and quitting at the concept before you even try.

No, the same can't be said for a calculator. How is a calculator vs. pen & paper relevant to onboard scales?
More tech means less reliability, and a shorter service life.
But I am a fan of technology when it makes sense. A backup camera for one. It's cheap, doesn't affect the rest of the truck if it fails, and serves a purpose (hooking up trailers).
Half the "tech" in these trucks don't make sense....but is the direct cause of $70,000 XLT's So enjoy....
I wonder if the numbers are generated by how much the rear end sags under a load. I guess the guys who get these and immediately get suspension kits will blaze the path finding out how changes to stock suspension impacts those readings.
Many things are created for a legitimate use, but get abused quickly. Give your address and phone number to a pizza joint? They're the biggest source of information for intelligence gathering companies like Accurint. Those cameras on the traffic lights? Your city doesn't use red light cameras to issue tickets? Private companies track your movements with them and sell the info to companies and governments. I've seen it first hand.
Bed weight measure? It was always pretty easy to look at your "sag" and tires. If you're among the older generations, you could get pretty accurate just by looking.

We live in an age where many super duty owners can't be bothered to open and close their tailgate under their own power. Visual safety checks would be asking too much.

It's not the same, you're right. I was using it as a comparison of a tool that makes life easier.... More tech doesn't necessarily mean less reliability, it could though. Tech has come a long way in recent years, but anyway that's another discussion. Let's be honest how often do people typically keep their vehicles anyway? MAYBE until the warranty is up? Those of us that keep our truck 5+ years are well in the minority.....
Be pretty useful for configuring a load on trailer and adjusting an appropriate pin/tongue weight. Not sure what all the fuss is over it being so Ford can spy on you? Do you buy less truck than you need and intend to always overload it?
I get it, but this follows closely with, "If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear." I always see that as, "I am not doing anything wrong, so you have no reason to look."
I'm not a criminal and make great effort to ensure I am acting legally and wisely. But that does not mean I don't value my privacy. And all of us are continuing to lose it one granual at a time. There will come a time when we will realize it is all gone.
Since it's not an option on higher trim level., It's stock. And since I always put airbags on to help level the rear when I'm hooked up to my GN. I suspect it may become worthless the day after I install the bags
