I am currently working on a 92 f150 with 5.0 that has been sitting for a while. It will start and idle fine but when you pull it in gear and try to accelerate it will immediately try to die. The IAC has been replaced. The owner has a fuel pressure regulator but had not installed it yet. I was checking it real quick over the weekend and did not have my volt meter or gauges to check fuel pressure. I am going to bring it to the house if I can get it going enough. I could get it to go in gear and not die with the tps unplugged. After I started checking and fooling with it after I unplugged the tps and tried it again with it plugged in it seems like after revving it up it would start hunting, like it was revving up on its own. I tried unplugging the tps and starting it and putting it in gear and it seemed fine. It also seemed that after fooling with wiring i could wiggle wires at the tps and get it to rev up and down. Do you all think this is just a bad TPS or am I overlooking something. Like i said I can unplug the tps and it will pull in gear and move in his driveway. I did not try to drive it like that. Before unplugging it would stumble and pretty much die when you put it in gear and tried to accelerate any at all.
Yeah when I get it to the house I am going to check for codes. I do know that when I had the TPS unplugged it logged cel. So I know for sure the pcm is recognizing the tps. I hope this is an easy fix.
Brought truck to house and started checking. I checked voltage at the tps and found that it was .46 at idle. Going through the range it immediatly jumpued up by quiet a bit. I went ahead with replacing it and when i ohmed it out after removing it it ha an open spot right off idle. Put all back together and it idled and seemed to rev fine. I went ahead and replaced fuel pressure regulator that he had already purchased but it did not make any change before replacing the tps. It was getting late by the time i got back together. Gonna try to drive it tonight. I did drive it to end of driveway and seemed to be fixed.
Oh i forgot to add that sometimes you have to hold up on shifter on column to get starter to engage. What wears out in there or can something be adjusted? Thanks.

does your shifter seem loose? There's 2 t30 tourqe screws above the brake pedal if there loose it will cause thst problem. Lay on the floor and wiggle the shifter or have someone else wiggle it and you will see the screws that need to be tightened.

Thanks I will check that. I checked codes last night and got 11. Son had baseball practice last night so didn't get to mess with it long.
Finished up the truck, and drove. Everything seems good and my neighbor was thrilled. Me and my son also replaced shocks on truck that owner had already purchased but not installed. Thanks for the help guys.
