Hi All, I have recently had trouble with my 95 PS with 163000 miles. It kept tryin to cut off and kept missing big time. I replaced the cam position sensor but now i am worse off, it wont even idle. It fires misses and dies. In the mean time the code P0603 Internal Ctrl Mod KAM Error. I am not sure where to go from here. Does anyone have any suggestions
I had that code come up a couple times on my truck when I was running a SCMT with the 110 HP setting but it never effected engine performance so I dont know what to tell ya
I have got a new micro tuner. I put the stock settings back on and unplugged the batteries for a while but that didnt seem to work. I talked to a ford tech and he said the PCM may be fryed. Anyone with a microtuner, has this happened to you? It is very frustrating to think that i had the problem but i wonder if i can get my money back out of the tuner from the warrenty. also does anyone know where the cheapest place is to find a PCM. I heard autozone and i am not sure i want to go to a junkyard. Thanks for the help
The "KAM" part of the PO603 is "keep alive memory". It serves a similar function as the constant hot lead on your stereo that remembers your radio stations. The PO603 will be set any time you disrupt the constant power... installing a tuner, unhooking the batteries, etc. It's not something you need to worry about.
I tend to think your problem is not in the PCM. If it was fried the truck would not start at all, it would just crank. Does your wait to start light come on with the key? If it does your PCM is probably ok.
I'm thinking the problem is either the injector wiring harness has burned up, or the IDM (injector driver module) has failed.
