So, I bought my 1955 ford F100 in 1976 when I was 15 years old and swapped out the 223 for a 390 and 4 speed and drove it all through high school and had a blast with it.
Around 1982 I tore it down, subframed it, had the cab chopped 6" and worked on it on and off for a few years. Then life got in the way and it has basically been in storage for the last 40 years.
I am now retired and my current mission in life and full time job is to get this thing on the road and drive it to the F100 supernationals on September 22 2023.
I had rebuilt the 390 in the process and ran it a little but I was worried about rusted cylinders and old gaskets so I have it tore down, it is in great condition and am just cleaning everything up and reassembling.
Then comes the subframe job, I put in a 1971 Ford LTD front clip and was having many problems with it and was not at all happy with my fab skills from 40 years ago so I bought a replacement frame andI plan on using a mustang 2 front suspension.
Truck coming out of 40 years of storage. Pieces and parts everywhere striping the frame down to send out for blasting
I love it.. This is almost my story, I bought my '55 in 1976 when I was 16. Stuck a GT 390 crate engine in there and drove it to high school. Just installed a fresh 410hp 390 in it, love it.
I bought my 54 in 1977, my last year in college. And drove it and drove it and drove it as it was. Never did it sit unlicenced nor inspected or registered. The exception was from June 1998 to July 1999 when it was held hostage in the body shop.
I have installed a Total cost involved m2 kit and parabolic rear spring kit, tore the motor down and freshened it up, put seals in the top loader transmission and 9" rear, installed a aluminum fuel tank and
sandblasted and painted the frame.
